We Ride!

Thanks to tireless searching, midnight (for us) calling, haggling, and shameless manipulative weeping, we are thrilled to announce that the official Mongol Rally 2012 vehicles of The Bear/Bare Boxers have been selected! Here is the first glimpse of the glorious machines that will spirit us from London to Ulaanbaatar, and several lucky Mongolians far beyond:


2003 Hyundai Getz
1.1L (1086cc) petrol, manual
Current mileage : 86,321




2006 Perodua Kelisa
1.0L (989cc) petrol, manual
Current mileage : 69000

Not only are these cars shining examples of their breed, so are their previous owners. Despite encountering several owners who still seem to pucker from colonial sour grapes we found two owners willing to hold on to the cars until we are able to pick them up in July. Our most sincere thanks to spencec123 and 09mandapanda87 for their understanding, support, and desire to see their cars conquer Eurasia!

With routes, flights, visas, vaccinations, and cars figured out, our next step is getting international drivers licenses. Also, we are taking suggestions for car names! Leave your suggestions in a comment.

    Personally, I like "Get-zome!" for the Hyundai.

    I am not creative enough to think of names for your cars, but I just wanna wish you guys luck for your long journey. When you guys get back, I want to hear about how you guys crossed the Altai Mountains in western Mongolia (seems very challenging if not impossible).
    Have fun and drink lots of 'airag' when you get to Mongolia!
