The Rally

The Mongol Rally is a 10,000 mile trek in the name of charity and adventure (in that order!) from London, UK to Ulaanbataar, Mongolia. The catches: (1) it is completely unassisted (2) rally cars must have 1.2L engines or smaller (3) we have to get there in a month.  We have two teams of mid-twenties adventurists from Boulder, CO and Los Angeles, CA ready and willing to make the journey!  At the end of the rally, the cars are auctioned off to add a bonus to the $2000 we will raise for two charities.

The rally starts on July 14th with the Festival of Slow in London.  There are three ending days throughout August, the 10th, 17th, and the 24th.  The only goal is to be in Ulaanbataar by the end of August so we can give them the Mongol Rally organizers our charity check and turn over the keys to the car.  Then we will find our way back to Los Angeles via Beijing, China.  Our route is subject to change, but as of now we will be traveling through: UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, Russia (again), and on to Mongolia.

Along the way we have both public outreach and scientific projects planned!
